Sonia is descendant of the Kabi Kabi people from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland and a second-generation Australian South Sea Islander with my heritage from Vanuatu.

I am passionate about helping individuals find meaningful employment opportunities that align with their skills, interests, and goals. I am dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued and supported. I am committed to building strong relationships with both job seekers, community and employers. I believe in the power of employment to transform lives and communities, and I am driven to make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.

I’m a writer, storyteller, strategist and saltwater man with deep roots in Australia and the South Pacific First Nations communities. 

Currently studying a Master of Human Rights, I bring a unique combination of lived experience, policy insight and creative strategy to the challenges of climate adaptation, environmental protection, cultural resilience and First Nations maritime heritage, history and culture.

With over 30 years of experience across strategic communications, First Nations engagement, and values-driven advocacy, I’m passionate about building a more just and sustainable future. 

Whilst my recent career has focused extensively on supporting First Nations communities throughout Queensland and Torres Strait, and Vanuatu, my experience spans roles in Ministerial, political, government, top 100 industry, consulting and private sectors in Australia and the South Pacific.

When I’m not writing, campaigning or collaborating, you’ll find me voyaging, building traditional canoes, restoring or sailing ships, or diving into South Pacific history through my unique project Uncharted Letters, using historical and cultural storytelling to connect people with the land and sea and our shared past through Time Traveling explorers.
